Computer mouse. Test with Octane Render. Octane Render is a renderer that uses the power of GPU and multi-GPU to render photorealistic images. It’s based on CUDA so any GeForce 8 series or better can be used. I set the number of samples to 12000 and I got the image after around one hour on a 9600GT.

I like that you actually bothered to explain how you got the image (which is very nice by the way).

Too many people just say "I rendered this, derp" and leave it at that. I like knowing how things are accomplished.

8800GTS, as I understand, would be faster.

Yes, I tested it on the 8800GTS, is faster. By the way such a large number of samples is required. Enough of 3000 samples. Same quality.
